Testing PhotoCard.app as way to send family photo and note as snailmail to 92yo father in long term care. Mail is from San Jose to Montreal. $3/card. Wonder if any competition prints in destination country.

… Actually the import file regression with 1Password 4 is more severe than I realized. 1Password 3 had a UI for mapping columns to headers. 1Password 4 assumes format is correct. Ugly.

Raising a special needs child to adulthood gives a different perspective on “odd” or “difficult” adults. It is hard to describe the gulfs between human minds. It is astounding that human societies exist, and unsurprising modern capitalism is in crisis.

Why do cyclists run stop signs? One non-obvious reason. For a bike the best stopping point is about 3-5 feet beyond stop sign. Only there can one see oncoming traffic safely. I never see this mentioned…

@clarkgoble I think political scientists and economists should think seriously about the tripartite power model of corporations, billionaires, and voters. Corporations are much more than CEOs. They need to be modeled separately.

Another ex of unanticipated corporate consequences: Sarbanes Oxley -> email purge software. Email purge + SP_fail -> all key docs kept on dev desktops and rarely shared -> more business risk.

A few years ago corporate policy meant elite had smartphone access to email, workers did not. Now workers rarely use email, instead use an archaic IM system that’s desktop only. So elite are tied to desktop again. I love how these things work out.

My temp mountain bike has disc brakes. Better, but more weight, more complexity and fragility, will lose hydraulic fluid if levers compressed with wheel off. Perfect model for 21st century — progress is more incremental, more tradeoffs.
